Four doors into the genitive
The genitive often answers whose, of what, from where or how much. It follows nema, many quantity words and prepositions such as iz, od, do, bez and pored.
Learn the trigger with the noun: nema hleba, čaša vode, iz Beograda. The pair is more useful than an isolated ending.
The endings reveal each relationship
