By the sixth encounter, Serbian adjectives are no longer decorative extras—they reveal gender, number and case at a glance.
While I am working on my new series of Serbian language courses, I prepared for you a video lesson with a bunch of adjectives, with the verb TO BE and forming simple sentences such as:- DA LI SI LEP/LEPA? - Are you beautiful?
- DA LI JE ON UPLAŠEN? - Are you scared?
- DA LI STE ZDRAVI? - Are you healthy?
- DA LI JE TVOJ SIN GLADAN? - Is your son hungry?
- DA LI JE TVOJA ĆERKA GLADNA? - Is your daughter hungry?
- DA LI SU TVOJE ĆERKE GLADNE? -Are your daughters hungry?
- DA LI SU TVOJI SINOVI GLADNI? - Are your sons hungry?
- DA LI JE TVOJ AUTO STAR? - Is your car old?
- DA LI JE HLEB JEFTIN? - Is bread cheap?
- DA LI SU PSI STARI? - Are the dogs old?
Although I didn't write down my short answers, pay attention to them :)

Your task is to figure out which word is missing?
Adjectives with prepositions and cases
A Serbian adjective agrees with its noun in gender, number and case. Learn the noun and adjective together, then change one feature at a time; this makes endings visible without turning the lesson into a disconnected list. In this particular lesson, use that principle to interpret the examples connected with Adjectives in Serbian - Part 6.
Model sentences for part six
| Latin script | Cyrillic script | English |
|---|---|---|
| Slušamo poznatu narodnu pesmu. | Слушамо познату народну песму. | We are listening to a well-known folk song. |
| Široka ulica vodi do reke. | Широка улица води до реке. | A wide street leads to the river. |
| Njena bela haljina je elegantna. | Њена бела хаљина је елегантна. | Her white dress is elegant. |
| Dobili smo kratko jasno objašnjenje. | Добили смо кратко јасно објашњење. | We received a short, clear explanation. |
| Topao hleb lepo miriše. | Топао хлеб лепо мирише. | The warm bread smells lovely. |
The middle column is not a translation but the same sentence in Cyrillic. Compare it with the Latin version, close the English column and check whether both forms trigger the same meaning. Apply that script strategy to the vocabulary in Adjectives in Serbian - Part 6.
Preposition, adjective, noun — all agreeing
Instead of memorising disconnected words from Adjectives in Serbian - Part 6, collect a compact pattern you can reuse. Keep the stable part, replace one meaningful detail and listen to how the Serbian ending changes.
Describe people and places you know
Select the sentence closest to your life and make it true for you. Add a reason or time expression, ask another person a related question, and answer it without reading. For this post, keep your final version connected with the situation in Adjectives in Serbian - Part 6.
