A Serbian week begins with ponedeljak, literally the day after Sunday. Once the seven names are familiar, they become anchors for appointments, routines and stories about the weekend.

From Monday plans to Sunday calm

Days of the week are normally written with a lowercase initial in Serbian. Use u when you mean “on” a particular day: u ponedeljak, u sredu, u subotu. Notice that sreda changes to sredu, while most masculine day names keep the form you already know.
