Once you can greet people and handle simple everyday situations, the next step is to express what you think. This upper-intermediate Serbian lesson introduces useful phrases for giving an opinion, agreeing and disagreeing—politely, naturally and with different degrees of certainty.
How to agree and disagree in Serbian
Start with these high-frequency expressions:
- Mislim da... = I think that...
- Po mom mišljenju... = In my opinion...
- Slažem se. = I agree.
- Potpuno se slažem. = I completely agree.
- Ne slažem se. = I disagree.
- Nisam siguran / sigurna. = I am not sure. (male / female speaker)
- Razumem šta hoćeš da kažeš, ali... = I understand what you mean, but...
Notice that slagati se is reflexive, so the small word se must remain in both affirmative and negative forms: slažem se and ne slažem se.
