The verb biti (to be) is the foundation of many beginner Serbian sentences. This lesson brings together pronunciation, speaking, writing and interactive practice, using materials from the Serbian 101 course.

Watch the videos and pronounce each personal pronoun together with the correct form of biti:

• ja sam — I am
• ti si — you are (informal singular)
• on / ona / ono je — he / she / it is
• mi smo — we are
• vi ste — you are (formal singular or plural)
• oni / one / ona su — they are

Say the forms aloud several times, then write one short sentence with each person. In Serbian, personal pronouns are often omitted when the verb form already makes the subject clear, but keeping them here will help you memorise the pattern.
