Inflation Live
Dobar dan
Dobar dan, komšinice. Izvolite!
Daćete mi tu pomadu od ________ dinara.
Mislite ovu od ____________ ?
Da, tu od _________. Koliko košta ?
________ dinara.
_________?
Da, _________.
Izvolite tih __________ dinara.
When every price becomes the punchline
The shop dialogue turns inflation into listening practice. Numbers appear after od, beside dinara, and in the question Koliko košta? The humour depends on the customer and shopkeeper repeating amounts that sound increasingly absurd, so accurate number recognition matters.
Do not pause at every blank during the first viewing. Write only the tens you catch. On the second viewing, add the units. On the third, check whether each amount fits the surrounding exchange: a price, the money offered or the remaining debt.
A receipt written entirely in Serbian
| Latinica | Ћирилица | English |
|---|---|---|
| Ova pomada košta hiljadu dvesta dinara. | This cream costs one thousand two hundred dinars. |
| Komšinica je ponela samo devetsto pedeset dinara. | The neighbour brought only nine hundred and fifty dinars. |
| Prodavačica joj vraća kusur od sedamdeset dinara. | The shop assistant gives her seventy dinars in change. |
| Do sutra ostaje dug od sto osamdeset dinara. | A debt of one hundred and eighty dinars remains until tomorrow. |
| Na računu piše dve hiljade četrdeset dinara. | The receipt shows two thousand and forty dinars. |
Separate the price from the payment
Make three columns headed cena, plaćeno and dug. Place every number from the video in one column. This forces you to understand its function instead of collecting disconnected digits.
The shopkeeper closes the till
- Write 1,350 in Serbian words.
- Convert osamsto devedeset to digits.
- Complete the shop question: Koliko ______?
- Translate: “I owe you sixty dinars.”
- Write in Cyrillic: Izvolite kusur.
The totals finally agree
- 890
- košta
- Dugujem vam šezdeset dinara. /
For an extra challenge, replay the conversation at normal speed and repeat each amount immediately, before the next speaker answers.
