Learning furniture together with location

Vocabulary becomes easier to retain when organised by room and used in a sentence. Learn a noun with its gender and one location form: kuhinja—u kuhinji, krevet—na krevetu. Then contrast location with movement: knjiga je na stolu, but stavljam knjigu na sto. Moving between Latin and Cyrillic adds useful retrieval practice rather than a separate memorisation burden.

Vocabulary for objects is only half useful without the vocabulary for where they are. Krevet je u spavaćoj sobi teaches you the bed and the bedroom and the locative case in one sentence. Learn nouns in this kind of sentence rather than in a bare word list, and the case endings come along for free.

After u and na meaning location — not direction — Serbian uses the locative: soba → u sobi, sto → na stolu. Compare this with the accusative you use for movement. Reading both columns and watching that final vowel is the quickest way to keep the two cases apart.

Describing your own home

Walk through your home mentally, room by room, and say one sentence about each: what is in it and where. Then say where you are right now. Attaching the vocabulary to a real space you can picture makes it far more durable than a list learned at a desk.
