Let the subject choose the ending

When you hear a Serbian verb, first locate the subject: ja, ti, on/ona/ono, mi, vi or oni/one/ona. The infinitive tells you which verb you are using, but the subject determines the personal ending. In Mi svakog jutra pijemo kafu, the ending -mo immediately identifies a first-person plural action.

Do not translate one English form mechanically. English “work” appears in “I work”, “we work” and “they work”, whereas Serbian distinguishes radim, radimo and rade. Listen to the video once for meaning, then replay it and pause before every missing verb. Say the whole Serbian sentence aloud before writing the answer.

Six verbs meet six everyday situations

Notice that negation normally places ne directly before the verb: ne razumem, ne govorite, ne vežbaju. A question may begin with da li, but its conjugated verb keeps the same person and number: Da li razumeš?

Return to the video and choose one additional verb. Build its six-person pattern, then use two forms in sentences about your own study routine. A personal sentence is much easier to remember than an isolated ending.
