Pre-intermediate Serbian - Conjugator

While in the first four lessons of the Serbian for pre-intermediate level there was the emphasis on the nouns and cases, in the previous post, the more important topic started to emerge - and that's the one of the verb conjugation system in Serbian. That's why I made this short universal Serbian conjugations video to help you practise the verb conjugations for verbs we'll be covering in the future:

How to use it:
  1. Decide which verb you want to conjugate - or the Latin script version
  2. Practise saying the verbs with the video - pay attention, in the second part of the video you have to figure out what the subject is (ja, ti, on/ona/ono, mi, vi, or oni/one/ona)
  3. In the previous lessons we did the verbs "ići", "živeti" and "govoriti" - if you can conjugate these verbs in the Simple Present, you are ready for the next step

Serbian Lesson 4 for Pre-intermediate Level

I'm sure that now you are much more confident in using the Locative case to express where you are:
Last time you practised the Locative with the verbs:
  • govoriti = to speak
  • živeti = to live
In this fourth lesson at pre-intermediate level of Serbian, you are going to discover that the Dative case  which combines with the verbs describing movement, like "going towards" = ići ka, has the same form as the Locative, which is awesome!
Before we do this fun exercise (in my classes my students and I play this language game), let me remind you of the conjugations for the new verb, which we'll need in this lesson:
  • ići = to go
We'll need the imperative form "go", which can be used :
  • formally: "idite ka" ("go towards" with Vi)
  • informally: "idi ka" ("go towards" with ti)

Before moving onto the third lesson for the pre-intermediate level of Serbian, you can always flick through the previous blog posts:
In today's lesson you can revise your knowledge of the Locative case, but this time with the verb "živeti" = to live and "govoriti" = to speak (a language) + adjectives describing languages &  nouns for countries:

Serbian Language Day 9 - Pre-intermediate Course, Lesson 2

You can always revise the simple structures by following the Serbian for Beginner course tag, as well as Serbian Lesson Pages.

In our previous pre-intermediate lesson we covered:
Let's use the similar group of words, this time "places in the city" to express our whereabouts:

  • "Ćao! Gde si ?" = Hi, where are you ?
  • "Zdravo! Sada sam u muzeju. A ti ? " = Hello, I'm in the museum. And you ?
  • "Ja sam na autobuskoj stanicu ! Vidimo se za pet minuta!" = I'm at the square ! See you in five minutes!

Serbian Language 365 Day 2 - Serbian for Pre-intermediate Level

In the past five years I've scattered numerous blog posts with lessons of Serbian and corresponding grammatical explanations not only on this blog and Youtube and Youtube but all over the Internet. One of the many reasons for starting 365 Days of Serbian Language was to connect them and tag them correctly.

Since the previous post covered the verb TO BE in the Simple Present tense, I think that all the students who are either at elementary and pre-intermediate level can easily learn to use the same form with the Locative case, saying where you are:

At the end of each video lesson, let's revisit some of the previous posts covering the same, or similar topic:
